The Jordan brand began as a basketball shoe brand under the Nike banner in 1984. It was later given to the young athlete Michael Jordan, who had no experience in sales or competition. The first pair of Air Jordans was released on July 1, 1985, for $64.95. Michael Jordan was considered the best basketball player of all time, wearing his sneakers throughout his career. Michael Jordan retired in 2003, but he continues to be a pillar of top-selling athletic shoes for many retailers. Michael Jordan continues to play a significant role in the design and production of Jordan shoes to this day.
