First released in 1990, the Air Jordan 5 “Grape” was one of the first Air Jordans to depart from the classic Chicago Bulls colors. With this move, Nike began experimenting with new colorways in Michael Jordan’s signature line, broadening the appeal of the Jumpman and giving the collection a more lifestyle aesthetic. The “Grape”’s cultural significance was catapulted through the popular television series The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, where Will Smith wore the pair with signature comfort and style. As a result, the shoes became associated not only with basketball, but also with 90s pop culture. After their initial release, the Grape Jordan 5 returned to retail in 2006. This version, although lacking the original Nike Air logo on the heel and having issues with the midsole, was a huge hit with sneaker enthusiasts. A re-release followed in 2012, which was criticized for its bulkier toe box. In 2018, the series honored the Fresh Prince connection with a special laceless version, directly inspired by Will Smith's style in the series. Today, the Air Jordan 5 “Grape” is considered one of the most beloved and recognizable colorways of the series, with a history that goes beyond the parquet and is part of urban culture and sneaker heritage.

Clean your Jordan sneakers in 4 simple steps!
Step 1
Carefully wipe away dust and dirt with a dry brush.
Step 2
Clean your shoes with water and a little dishwashing liquid or laundry detergent, and using a soft brush or old toothbrush, gently wash the upper and outsole of your sneakers. If your Jordan shoes are white, add a small amount of baking soda to make them extra clean!
Step 3
Remove the laces from your shoes and wash them with the same solution.
Step 4
Allow your sneakers to dry naturally, under shade, so they retain their colour and shape. Remember that your sneakers need to dry very well before you wear them, which can take around 8 hours.
Special care for different shoes
• Leather: Lightly scrub using an eraser or conditioner and avoid excessive pressure.
• Suede: Dusting with a suede brush, use rubber or pencil eraser, for localized marks wipe with a cloth dipped in white vinegar.
• Textile/mesh: scrub with a soft brush in the direction of the fabric, no bleach or harsh substances, air dry and away from dryers.
Extra notes for extra freshness
• Never use the washing machine and dryer to clean your sneakers, to avoid wear and tear.
• If you want your shoes to smell great, you can add some special perfume.
• For stubborn stains, you can also use a small amount of vinegar.
