The Air Jordan 3 was released in 1988 and was Tinker Hatfield's first design for the Jordan brand. Their collaboration was crowned with success as it continued for 3 decades and beyond the AJ3, he designed basketball shoes that marked the history of the parquet and casual style. Their first appearance went down in history as they were first worn during the third dunk contest a.k.a. Slam Dunk Contest that took place as part of the 1988 All Star Game. In this, Michael Jordan wearing the colors of the Chicago Bulls and the Jordan Air 3 on his feet took the victory, defeating Dominique Wilkins.
